Our Story

We’re more than just talk. We know that affirmations don’t always manifest in our lives from simply talking about them. We believe in being about them. Because it also takes moments and actions to inspire you to definitively step into your light and, we cannot stress this enough, reclaim the narrative within.

Paper Therapy began in 2020 during a creative challenge called Distant Connections, where two strangers had 24 hours to make something meaningful. Ni’jai and Mykala met as strangers, but quickly bonded over a shared passion for mental health. It started as a free download. But the impact was real, and the demand for something physical grew. When Mykala stepped away, Ni’jai carried the vision forward—turning a one-day idea into a lasting brand.

From the beginning, we wanted our words to feel real—not overly polished or clinical. Just honest, accessible language that speaks to everyday people navigating everyday emotions.

Why “paper therapy?”

The name speaks to both simplicity and power. If therapy isn’t always accessible, let the paper be the portal. “Paper Therapy” represents healing you can hold—through wellness cards that offer reflective prompts, affirmations, and emotional clarity. It's a tool for self-awareness, mental wellness, and daily support—designed to meet people wherever they are on their journey.

Our Mission

Even the smallest particles of light can transform the darkest spaces—that’s Paper Therapy. Paper Therapy creates accessible, culturally relevant wellness tools that help people reflect, heal, and grow—one card, affirmation, and resource at a time.

The Vision

To become a trusted space and lifestyle wellness brand for Black and multicultural communities—making mental wellness, self-expression, and collective healing accessible to all who need it.

We envision a world where these communities can access healing with ease, express themselves freely, and feel fully seen on their wellness journey.
